Monroeville, Pa. -- The women's tennis team ended its season by losing a 5-0 decision to #7 Carnegie Mellon in the semifinal round of the NCAA South Atlantic Regional. Freshman Agata Kubik (C.K. Norwid Gen. Lyceum/Czestochowa, Poland) was leading her match at second singles 6-1, 6-3 when the match was ended because the Tartans had clinched the team victory.

The Bombers finish the season with a record of 13-6 - Ithaca's best dual match record since the 2000-01 team finished 13-5. Ithaca ended the year with a 107-49 (.686) record in singles matches, with junior Alyssa Jaffe (Pascack Hills/Montvale, N.J.) winning a team-leading 16 singles matches. Jaffe is tied for seventh all-time at Ithaca with 39 career singles wins.

Freshman Melanie Cohen (Hatboro-Horsham/Ambler, Pa.) finished the season with a team-high 31 overall wins. She also tied Ithaca's single-season record with 17 doubles wins.

The Bombers won their fourth straight Empire 8 title in five years in 2007-08. Ithaca had just one senior on the roster this season, and the Ithaca's NCAA Tournament line-up featured three freshman and two sophomores.
